A weekend / day down hill (resort) skiing trip at Perisher. This trip is for people who cannot already downhill ski (like, at all). The snow conditions mean that a lot of ski runs are closed and experienced skiers will probably just be frustrated.
Resort skiing is expensive. I've taken a look at various offers available and it looks like I can get some people discounted tickets at around $70. Please note, I've only got a limited number of discounted tickets and these will only go to beginner skiers. Expenses above the lift ticket include: gear hire ($50 / day or $80 / weekend) from Rhythm Sports in Cooma. On top of this we'll need to pay for petrol, park entry ($30 / vehicle / day) and *maybe* snow chain (for car wheels) hire. I'll provide the lesson, so we can get that for free.
Resort skiing is the fastest way for complete beginners to get the basic ski skills necessary to make Back Country (Alpine Touring & Telemark) skiing enjoyable. If you're a brand newbie to skiing, I recommend getting some practice in now, at the start of the season. Two consecutive days would be good, but one day is better than nothing. For those people who are interested in doing two days, we'll be camping at Island Bend. This will be good practice for people who are new to camping.
If you'd like to come on this trip, sign up to this trip and let me know by Wednsday afternoon if you intend to come for the Saturday and Sunday or just one of those days. If I don't get enough interest in either day, I may cancel the trip or just make it a day trip. You need to commit to this trip because once we've bought our tickets, there is no refund.
Drive to Perisher both days and camp at Island Bend
