If you are somewhat of a beginner looking to get into outdoor climbing, this is the trip for you!
We will be heading to snake rock, to do some climbing. I will set up topropes for you guys on interesting looking routes :) Climbs at snake rock are quite varied, and range from easy to medium to hard :D There is also a crack route here which I can set up a toprope on!!!! Note that although there are lots of sport routes at this crag, I'm not qualified to teach you how to lead climb so that wont happen on this trip unless someone more experienced than me signs up :)
Note that you will need to have a belay pass to come on this trip. No other experience is required, however I would appreciate it if you could please briefly outline your experience level when you sign up, just for my own reference. Please let me know if you have a car and can drive when you sign up!! I don't have a car so this trip cannot go ahead unless one of you can drive!
Advanced climbers are welcome to sign up too! If some more experienced people sign up, I could potentially open the trip up for more beginners.
You will need:
-a helmet
-climbing shoes
-harness ( please check that it fits you before hiring!!)
-sun protection:hat, sunscreen etc
-Water (I recommend minimum 2L) and food for the day
-A backpack to carry everything in
*** Note: you can hire climbing gear from our gear store (at ANU sport). Opening hours: 6-6:30 pm on tuesdays and thursdays.
I will hire belay devices for you guys (the Megajul). If you have your own, feel free to bring it. If you're a beginner, it's recommended that you use an assisted braking device such as the megajul.
Feel free to explore this link to get a sense of the climbing in this area:

There will be no pre-trip. Logistics (cars, pick up and times) will be organised by email or facebook messenger.
Drive to Corin road in the morning (approx 40 minute drive), walk to crag (approx 20-30 minutes, steep and rocky), climb, leave the crag before sunset and return back to Canberra.
