Join me for a challenging walk up to the top of Mt Gingera, the second highest peak in the ACT! In total the walk will be roughly 21km, with the highest point being around 1800m. The start of this trail is quite steep, so expect to work those calves!
We will start from Corin Dam, and tackle the steep incline up to Stockyard Spur, with great views of the surrounding mountains and national parks along the way. Depending on the time, we can stop here for lunch or continue on to the top. From here, the incline will be less intense until the Mt Gingera climb. We will also have the option to stop in at Pryors Hut, an old working hut built in 1952. The real treat following this will be the incredible views from the top of Mt Gingera and a celebratory snack! From here, we will walk back down the mountain the way we came, hopefully spotting some beautiful wildflowers and interesting wildlife along the way.
Please bring:
- water (2-3L)
- snacks AND lunch
- decent hiking/running shoes
- hat, sunnies, sunscreen
- raincoat
- personal first aid kit
- warm layers
Due to the length of this walk, please make sure to arrive at ANU sport promptly at 7:30am so that we can take full advantage of the daylight.
Please include a description of your fitness levels and bushwalking experience in the comments :)
Note: the no. of participants will depend on the number of drivers available.
