An easy overnight bushwalk suitable for beginners! I'm running this trip as an introductory training walk for my upcoming trip to the Zanskar valley. Therefore, I will prioritise giving spots to people who are seriously considering coming on this Zanskar trip. However, this walk is still open to other club members!
The duration of this entire trip will be less than 24 hours! So it's a quick getaway you can come on to relieve your exam stress!
I'll be holding a pre-trip meeting on thursday: the day before the walk. If you are an experienced bushwalker and can organise your own gear, you do not need to attend. If you are a beginner, and are unsure of what to bring/how to pack then you should come to this pre-trip meeting so that I can help you sort out gear, etc.
If we decide to camp at hospital creek, we will walk around 12 kms on the first day and 6 kms on the second day.
If we are slow/tired and decide to camp at Frank and Jacks hut, we will walk around 9 kms on the first day and 4 kms on the second day.
When you sign up, please write a brief description of your bushwalking experience level, just for my reference!
Note that I have injured myself so I can no longer make it on this walk. Therefore, Jemma is taking over as trip leader for the walk itself.
Depart ANU sport at around 1pm. Drive to Yankee Hat trailhead carpark. Walk to either Frank and Jack's Hut or Hospital creek hut. We will aim to reach hospital creek hut but if everyone is tired or if we are running out of time, then we will just camp outside Frank and Jack's Hut. Wake up early next morning and walk back to carpark. Drive back to ANU sport.
