This intensive 2-day Remote First Aid course, run by Wilderness First Aid Australia, is designed to provide ANUMC members with the opportunity to improve/learn the skills necessary for responding to emergency situations in remote areas.
Wilderness First Aid Australia is an Australian company that specialises in wilderness/remote area first aid education. Through this remote first aid course, participants will learn the appropriate decision-making skills and treatment principles necessary for dealing with emergency situations in the bush. These skills will be tested and consolidated through real-life scenarios.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive the following certifications:
- HLTAID001 - Provide CPR
- HLTAID003 - Provide First Aid
- SISOOPS305A - Provide First Aid in a Remote Location
Cost per participant will be approximately $365. The ANUMC will subsidize the course fees for active members as follows:
- 60% for student members
- 40% for non-student members
To be eligible to participate in this subsidised course, you will need to be an ANUMC & ANU Sport member AND outline in the additional information field upon registration:
- your participation in club activities over the last 6 months
- how you intend to use the skills gained to contribute to the Club
*Please note: in order to secure your spot on this course, we will require a 50% deposit upon registration. Final payments are due by March 20 2020*
Those who completed the course last year are more than welcome to apply to participate again, however please remember this is not necessary as the certifications hold for 3 years (excepting CPR - only 12 months).
Successful applications will be notified and emailed payment instructions. Following payment, the require pre-coursework will be emailed to you.
