This will be an overnight bushwalk to mount sentinel. The aim is to walk to the sentinel and back from guthega dam via mount Twynam, camping overnight at pounds creek flats. Note that most of this walk will be off track. We'll be walking approx. 15 kms on the first day and 6km on the second day. This may not sound like a lot but everything takes a lot longer when going off track!! The ground we will be traversing will be quite steep and uneven! I'm running this as a training walk for my upcoming trip to the zanskar valley so priority will be given to people coming on the Zanskar trip. There should be spots for other club members to come too though :)
Please write a description of your prior experience in bushwalking when you sign up! I recommend that you have at least a little bit of experience in overnight bush walking and are relatively fit to come on this trip :) Also let me know if you have a car and can drive!!
If the weather is bad, I may end up changing this to an easier on track walk, or canceling the trip altogether! Be prepared for these changes!
Leave Canberra at 7am Saturday morning. Drive to guthega dam. Walk to the Sentinel via mount Twynam, and return to pounds creek flats to camp overnight. Wake up early the next morning and walk back to the cars. I would love if we could finish by midday or even earlier on the second day so I can cram in some study on Sunday afternoon and get to sleep relatively early before uni begins on Monday again :) I want to aim for us to be back home by 2pm. There may be delays though!!
