Your mission: to use your amazing navigational skills to find as many flags as possible within a certain time limit!
20 flags will be set up around the Mt Ainslie and Mt Majura Nature Reserves from Monday 18/05 until Sunday 24/05. This Mini-Rogaine course can be completed any time over the next week, you can do it individually, or in teams - but please make sure that you abide by the social distancing guidelines!
You will be provided with a map displaying the locations of the flags and a starting point, along with short descriptions of each location. You will use this map to plan a route that will maximise your amount of points. As you go along, you will tick off the flags that you have found on your map - please take photos of the flags as you find them and please do not remove the flags from their trees!
How do the points work? Each flag holds a certain number of points, with those that are further away/harder to reach holding more points. Your goal is to get the highest amount of points in the available time, but make sure that your planned route will allow you to return to the starting point within the time limit!
There will be three categories that you can choose from:
- Category 1: Runners - 2 hour time limit. This category is for people who want to run the course and try to find as many flags as possible within the time limit.
- Category 2: walkers - 4 hour time limit. This category is for people who want to walk the course and try to find as many flags as possible within the time limit.
- Category 3: fastest time to 'collect' all flags. This category is for people who want to attempt to find all the flags and do it in the fastest time possible.
Once you have completed the course, if you wish to know how you compared to other ANUMC members, please enter your results into the Google form here. You will be judged within your category and the results will be announced at the end of the week :D
Keeping the Mini-rogaine Covid-friendly: If participating in this event, please try your best to do so while respecting the government's guidelines regarding the Covid situation - we would love to be able to hold more of these events and this depends on your cooperation with these guidelines. Therefore, please make sure to NOT touch the flags or associated signage, and as mentioned only tackle the course individually or with appropriate social distancing.
Please register for this event so that you can receive a copy of the map. The map will be sent to you via email once you register, and you will have until Sunday 24/05 to attempt this course.
