There is a single open position to a club member to join a group of 4 backcountry touring from Kiandra to Kosciuszko (plan changing as Kiandra is currently closed due to bushfires). We are taking AT skis, but XC skis are also welcome. We will be hitting huts where possible to stay the night but there will also be nights spent out camping so you must be prepared for that with a tent or bivvy bag. We will be out for roughly 8 days, maybe a little less.
To come on this trip you must be an experienced backcountry skier or split-boarder etc (no snow shoes), having carried many days of food before, camped in the snow numerous times, be proficient at skiing or split-boarding, and be self-sufficient. This is not a beginner trip and experience and a high level of fitness are necessary. We don't want someone who will slow us down. If you want to come and you are up for it sign up and list appropriate trips that you have done before.
There is a chance we won't have snow coverage around the northern end of Kosciuszko NP, so we will probably bring runners in case we have to boot-pack for a few days, but this is weather dependent. Avalanche gear is also weather dependent.
We will organise gear will the trip participant prior to the trip.
Hut jumping Kiandra to Thredbo. Cars left at both ends.
