Note - Signing up to this trip does not guarantee you a spot. I will decide on participants by Tuesday the 6th and contact everyone who has signed up with the outcome.
After months of fire closures the northern end of Kosciuszko National park has reopened!
Let’s celebrate by enjoying a beautiful sunset from a rarely visited peak.
Mt Nungar is a lofty 1710m above sea level and provides stunning views in all directions. There is just enough room right up the very top to setup a few tents. Day 2 will be a steep but quick descent through some scrub to the car. We will be home by early afternoon on Sunday.
The walk will be a mix of on track and off track walking through mostly easy terrain. We will cover roughly 20 kms on Day 1 and less than 10kms on day 2. The final climb to Mt Nungar is a little steep so be prepared. We will also visit a few interesting high country huts along the way .
The weather:
Cold… Windy…
Pre trip and transport:
There is space for 4 fit and keen bushwalkers on this trip. If you haven't walked with me in the past then please let me know your bushwalking experience when signing up. Previous experience isn't a prerequisite, fit beginners are welcome :)
We will have a pre trip meeting on Thursday the 8th at 5:45pm so we can go over the plan and organise gear. I will drive on day.
COVID:
Please do not sign up or attend the trip if you are unwell or have been to a hotspot in the past 2 weeks.
