Join me for an exciting off track walk to Tinderry Peak, a stunning peak of granite sitting at over 1600m above sea level!
This walk will be approx. 13 kms long with over 500m of elevation gain. Note that although this doesn't sound too hard, the bush will be quite thick along most of this walk and the ground will be uneven. Furthermore, some rock scrambling will be required to get to the top of tinderry peak,
Here's a dropbox link with my proposed route marked on a topographic map. I have also attached a .kml file of the route which you can open on google earth.

This walk will involve a fair amount of off track bush-bashing. Some rock scrambling will also be required to reach the top of tinderry peak. Please do not sign up if you don't have much experience bushwalking! This is not a very beginner friendly walk (sorry!). You should have prior experience in off track walking and have a good level of fitness.
When you sign up, please indicate your prior experience in bushwalking if I haven't walked with you before!! I need to know your experience level to judge your ability to complete this walk in order to avoid putting you into a situation which you are unprepared for.
Please also indicate if you have a car and can drive!
Please bring:
-hat
-sunscreen if you need it
- water (2L minimum!!)
-rain jacket
-warm layers (jacket, thermals)
-beanie and gloves
-lunch+ snacks
-HEAD TORCH + spare batteries!
Depart ANU sport at 5:30 am. Drive to the beginning of the round flat fire trail (~1hr 15 minute drive). Walk to tinderry peak via the route outlined in the dropbox link provided above, and walk back to the cars the exact same way. Drive back to Canberra and arrive back at anu sport by around 6pm.
