It's that time of year! Cocktails on the Castle is a long running tradition in the Club whereby a group of us hike to the top of the Castle, dress up in fine evening attire and eat the most extravagant food we can carry. Last year we had pancakes, sushi, cheese platters (including a silver tray), two guitars, a flute, a violin and a table.
Although this trip is all a bit of fun, it's important to remember that the Castle is a difficult, technical hike with rope-assisted rock scrambling at the top and no access to drinking water. For this reason, participants need to be experienced bushwalkers and fit enough to walk all day uphill with a heavy pack, and comfortable with more technical hiking. Please outline your previous hiking experience in your registration
The view from the top is stunning and it's well worth the trek!

Please note that at the time of writing the gear store is not yet open, so participants will need to be self sufficient with equipment. This will change accordingly with ANU Sport policy

Environmental Consideration
Due to the bushfire damage, the ecosystem we'll be walking through and camping on is especially delicate. It's very important that we take extra care to stick to tracks, leave no waste, and cause minimal damage to the environment. For this reason the trip will be limited to 12 people, and we'll take a poo tube so as not to contribute to additional erosion at the summit where soil is already thin.
