Calling for amphibious bushwalkers out there! This is a relaxing car-camping trip to welcome the advent of summer!
The plan is to walk towards the north and south of Gillards campground where we are going to stay overnight. To the north, we’ll walk along the sandy beach until Middle Bay and return via Tommy’s Bay Track. To the south, we’ll walk towards Baronda Head and Nelson Creek and return via same route. We can decide on Saturday whether to do the north or south bushwalk first. If anything, we can always retrace our steps along the beach back to the campground.
Of course, we can go swimming anywhere along the beach depending on temperature, weather and surf conditions. I expect each walk to take three to four hours excluding other activities we do alongside, such as lunch and swimming.
No less tantalising is the campground itself where I hope we can have a campfire on Saturday evening. Since the campground can fill up very quickly, I have decided to book it in advance. Participation on the trip thus depends upon my receipt of payment for the booking before the trip commences. I will email the invoice to participants who have registered.
The trip will proceed with 3 caveats in mind:
- Due to Covid-19 restrictions, gear hire from the club may still be unavailable. Priority will go to participants who can provide their own gear and equipment.
- Signing up to this trip does not guarantee a spot. I will determine final participants based on experience levels, car availability, etc. I will prioritise participants who can provide cars/transport and have completed the payment.
- Depending on weather conditions, this trip may have to be postponed/cancelled to ensure the safety of participants.
