* For weather precaution, this trip has been reformed as a day trip to Bungonia Creek, Sunday 27 February.
Original trip description follows for reference:
*This trip is full - please watch the trip calendar for the Canberra Day long weekend trip to Kangaroo Valley. There will be opportunities for beginners' canyoning on that trip.
ANUMC's growing team of up-and-coming canyoning leaders have tested their skills in spots such as Macquarie Pass and the short canyons around Katoomba. Now is the chance to visit some of the all-time classic canyons of the Blue Mountains. These offer wonderful atmosphere with deep, dark and mysterious narrow canyons, which we explore until they open up, for example into the spectacular walls and rock formations of the Wollangambie River gorge. There's also of course some fun swims and jumps into deep pools.
The destination will be Mount Wilson, which has a lovely green campsite from which we can walk or take a very short drive to multiple canyons. It is however somewhat far from Canberra so we'd have to leave on Friday night. If there is strong interest from multiple co-leaders, we could have two cars and work as two small independent groups.
At most we'd only have maximum 1-2 beginners this weekend. However the Canberra Day long weekend trip to Kangaroo Valley will have considerably more beginner canyoning activities.
For new members: you can hire most things from the ANUMC gear store (canyoning gear, plus camping needs). Please see elsewhere on this site for hire rates, etc.
In the meantime please contact me on richardsalmons@gmail.com with any questions, including about canyoning with ANUMC generally.
