I'm planning on leaving Canberra on Friday the 22nd April, returning to Canberra on Monday the 25th. Plan is: Leave sometime/anytime Friday and camp at Currarong caravan park. Practice surfing at Currarong on Saturday. Then early Sunday morning we leave from Currarong and paddle along the cliffs and around Point Perpendicular into Jervis bay and camp within the bay. Monday, we hope the high tide (on a waning moon) at 4:49pm is high enough around 2-3pm for us to have minimal dramas hauling our boats out onto the isthmus. Bring mossie spray! There's mangrove mosquitoes (and possibly sand flies) and I suspect we'll have a lovely stretch of exposed mud to cross before hauling the boats up and over the isthmus sand dune back to the ocean and back to Currarong to be reunited with the cars. Numbers will depend on the ratio of experienced to Inexperienced paddlers. Group size will also have to be limited to campsite availability, so registration does not guarantee a place. Please let me know your level of experience when signing up. Can you roll a sea kayak consistently and can you enter and exit the surf zone competently?
