3 days spent climbing ice at Blue Lake in Kosciuszko, and camping up in the main range. No skiing or snowshoeing required. Goes over the ACT long weekend 28th - 30th May.
This is a trip for people who are competent climbers with an interest in mountaineering. It is expected that you have multi-day bushwalking and lead climbing experience.
We will walk 7 km from Charlotte Pass to Blue Lake on the Saturday, and head to set up camp after climbing. The next two day we will come back for more climbing, and we will head back the night of the 30th May (Monday, public holiday).
Some personal gear is a requirement, such as warm clothes, appropriate gloves etc. The more gear you own personally the better, so let me know what you have in regards to a tent, sleeping bag and mat, harness, helmet, crampon-compatible boots etc.
Priority will be given to members that have previously led trips, have their own gear, and have experience climbing trad and camping in the backcountry. Tell me your experience in your registration form. Signing up to the trip does NOT garuantee you a spot, I will select participants based on the criteria mentioned here.
Park at charlotte pass and walk on the main range track to Blue Lake. Climb before setting up camp elsewhere. Come back next day for more climbing then leaving.
