This is a beginner-friendly canyoning trip for the October long-weekend.
Full details TBC and will be weather dependent, but rough plan is to leave Canberra early-ish on Saturday morning and drive to the Blue Mountains to spend the afternoon at a single pitch abseil area to learn the basics of abseiling and some rope safety skills. On Sunday we will do a full-day canyon and on Monday we will do a shorter canyon before driving home to Canberra.
October may still be pretty cold, so the forecast will definitely influence which canyons we're willing/able to do. Jugglers, the Dry Canyon, or Grand canyon are good options because they are shorter and either totally dry or involve a lot less swimming. If the weather is warm and dry we might do Serendipity, Yileen, or Upper Bowens Creek South on the Sunday.
We will probably camp at Cathedral of Ferns reserve campground (which is free).
I (Amelia) will be leading the canyons and will bring along one other experienced ANUMC canyoner. To keep numbers to a safe size for canyoning, there will only be 3 open spots on this trip (first come, first served basis) so please only register if you are certain you can come and give as much notice as possible if you can no longer attend.
