Plan is to fix the boats on Saturday and sail downwind the length of Lake George (approx 25kms) on the Sunday, stopping in a patch of bush on the far bank for lunch. The trip may be cancelled if the wind isn't at least looking like giving us a few easy kms. Presumably it'll be hot, so wear long sleeves, good coverage hat, lots of sunscreen and maybe gloves. I use bike mitts. Bring lunch and snacks and we want at least 4 litres of water each, but I'll bring a 10ltr container. You have to be able to swim and have paddled the boats on the lake a few times at a minimum. It'd be best if you've sailed before, and even better if you can roll, as sailing can lead to tipping over when the wind shifts. While these skills aren't essential, they'll get preference if there's too many people for the party. We'll do a (pretty big) car shuffle while others set up the boats. From reading accounts by windsurfers, we may have to haul the boats over interminable shallow mudflats of deep mud, to get into deeper water. But since our boats have shallower drafts than a windsurfer fin, we might not be soo burdened. Hopefully everyone can make it to the boat workshop on the Saturday and maybe practice deploying, reefing and rolling (or at least re-entering) the boats with the sails on. Everyone is welcome to make a weekend out of it and stay at my place overnight. We might even be able to get some of the car shuffle over with on the Saturday evening. I've put the pre-trip at 5 on Saturday, but anytime is good.
