This trip is for experienced climbers only. You have to be able to do the following confidently:
- Abseil with a prusik
- Can solidly top rope a grade 18 climb
- Can prusik up
- Able to climb up the old wall crack without excessively hanging - optional but essential if you want to try windjammer
If I don’t know you, you’ll have to demonstrate to me you are capable at the ANU sport climbing wall.
Another experienced climber who knows how to set up trad anchors is desired. I’ll limit the size of the group to up to 8 for now, but might accept more if I do end up getting another trad climber on board.
The rough plan is to leave on Friday arvo, camp somewhere for both nights and come back on Sunday afternoon. Saturday we’ll suss out Hello Dolly wall, where I want to try some ~18 sport climbs - https://www.thecrag.com/en/climbing/australia/point-perpendicular/area/763185135; Sunday we will climb at windjammer wall and grey mist wall, where we can try some crack climbing - https://www.thecrag.com/en/climbing/australia/point-perpendicular/area/12059113#n843745140.
The most ideal campsite is at honeymoon bay but it's tricky to book, I'll confirm once I secured it. If not, we'll have to camp somewhere else.
You’ll have to sort out your own camping gears and climbing gears.
I’ll be at the gear store on Wednesday evening to hire ropes and some trad rack. If anyone could give me a hand and share some car space to split the weight of the gears I have to carry from gear store to ANU sport carpark and then to point perp, that would be much appreciated!
