The Bungonia Gorge Red Track is a short but seriously challenging hike with a steep climb in and out and a magical section of traversing boulders in the slot canyon. The red track alone is around 6km but depending on time we can stay in the canyon longer and extend it to 9km with the white track.
I'd like to leave camp at 8:30am to give us time to be back in Canberra before dark (and milkshakes in Goulburn).
You will need to bring:
- good walking shoes/hiking boots
- minimum 2 litres of water (you'll want every drop, trust me)
- hat, sunscreen
- snacks and lunch
Ideally we'll be at the end of the canyon at around lunch time so we can fuel up before the big climb out.
I will bring a first aid kit and download the map of the trail to my phone. We can also get a paper map from the visitor centre.
