Want to learn how to roll a whitewater kayak or build some kayaking skills? We will be running pool training sessions at an indoor pool where you will have space to learn and practice your roll and kayaking skills.
When: from 7:30 to 9:30 pm on Wednesday, 3 June.
Where: Stromlo Leisure Centre - Corner of Uriarra Road and Dave McInnes Rd (directions)
Costs: $15 to the club for pool hire fees and a pool entry fee to be paid when you arrive at the pool, which ranges from $6.45 (concession/full-time student) to $9.20 (adult).
What to bring: you will need a kayak, a paddle, and a spraydeck (these can be borrowed from the club). You can also bring a helmet and PFD if you want. You will need to bring clothes that are suitable for the pool and that you will feel comfortable in. I suggest swimmers and a rash vest or a workout t-shirt. Also, make sure to bring your student ID to get the concession rate on pool entry!
When to meet: If you have your own gear, please meet us at the pool 10 minutes early to make sure you are ready as soon as our session begins! If you need to use club gear, we will meet at the boat shed (directions) at 6:30 pm to choose kayaks and load them onto cars/the trailer. If you have a car and roof racks and are happy to help transport boats to the pool, or to carpool with others, please let me know and meet us at the boat shed.
You MUST be able to swim 50m to participate in the pool sessions, unfortunately it is a requirement of the pool.
