Climbing in the Warrumbungles is 100% Trad (except for a few rusty pitons) and really more Alpine than rockclimbing. The climbs are long (up to 330m) and descents are often multipitch abseils done in the dark. Route descriptions are often vague (ie. 'Follow ridge for 100 metres') and the rock is very loose in places. see http://www.sydneyclimbing.com/confluence/download/attachments/131085/WarrumbunglesClimbingGuide.pdf?version=1&modificationDate=1302136366000 for more details. Soo, this trip is probably only suitable for experienced and competent Trad climbers. You probably want to be confidently (and efficiently) leading around 17 in order to take on a big Bungles 14. I've got room in my car for 2 more people, but you will also have to make up your own climbing team, as myself and my partner will usually want to climb together. I can help people get together if you want to sign up individually. I've booked Balor hut from the 4th to the 9th October (3hr slog uphill with all our gear). I will hopefully be climbing Caucasus corner - belougery spire, Flight of he Phoenix - Bluff mountain, Leiden or Lieben -and Crater Bluff, but we might move on to Kaputar before the 9th, if our full hit list has been ticked off before then. We'll let our safety contact know which area we end up at.
OK, here's a list of stuff you will need. But seriously, if you don't know what you need, you shouldn't be going to the Bungles to climb. This no place for beginners, slow climbers or the faint hearted.
