Climbing around grades 18-24 but feel your hitting a plateau and want to learn more about training specifically for rock climbing ? I have organised in conjunction with ANUMC to get Duncan Brown who runs 'Athlete by choice' to come to the ANU gym to run a seminar all about climbing training and injury management gear specifically for intermediate level climbers. This 1 night seminar for club members only will be from 6pm till 9pm on Wed 14th October.
Topics covered include;
* Self assessing your strengths and weaknesses.
* Setting training goals specific to strengths, wesknesses, body types and climbing goals.
* Ways to train and techniques.
* Looking at what we have to work with to train. Eg ANU wall, 2 canberra climbing gyms, national library, home woodies or hangboards.
* Importance of antagonist training and general fitness.
* Injury management.
There will also be free drinks and pizzas on the night.
Normally this night would cost $80-100 but the club is helping to subsidising the cost for 10 PLACES (mixture of students and non students) so that
* Students $30 (club subsidising $50)
* Non-Students $40 (club subsidising $40)
If we have more than 10 people who want to come then those people will need to pay the full price of $80. How do I get the subsidy and get my bum on a seat??
1. Sign up to the trip in the trip calendar
2. By no later than 7th Oct, When signing up for the trip, write a short paragraph on in the additional information section covering the 2 points below;
3. Current level of participation and activity in the club. "SPECIFICALLY in Rock Climbing" with the club.
4. Ability to pass on this knowledge to other people over time to help members in the club.
5. Those selected will be notified by myself.
6. Once selected you will get further info via email for paying the gap cost ($30 or $40) or full cost. FAILURE to turn up after paying money or not paying money will make me very grumpy !!!
7. Not doing the above steps will result in being kicked off the trip in the trip calendar.
If your paying the full amount or missed out on a subsidised place but still want to attend, not a problem at all :-) , just let me know either on facebook message or email (warrenp@anitcom.com.au).
NOTE: This night is also be open to only ANUMC club members eg sorry but no CCA and other non members as insurances for climbing at the wall etc. Bring your usual personal climbing gear for ANU climbing wall.
Should be a great night :-)
Cheers,
Waz
