Get excited- canyon season is almost here!!
This trip will cover the basics you need to know to co-lead canyon trips with the ANUMC. Co-leaders act as backup to the leader if things go wrong and lend a hand in managing the group as they go through a canyon.
There is a list of the skills you are expected to have on the canyon activity page, (let me know if you feel you need to practice any of the rope-skills at the gym session).
The trip will include a gym session, and a longer than usual pre-trip where we will cover planning, gear and other things.
Then, we will do a day trip to a dry canyon in Bungonia to test the skills out.
The pre-trip will be on Tuesday night at the gear-store from 6 until 7pm.
The gym session will be Wednesday night, from 6pm until 8pm.
The Bungonia trip will depart 7:30am on Sunday morning.
Attend this trip if you are interested in co-leading canyons, have already done a few canyons or have some outdoor climbing experience. If we haven't canyoned together before, let me know your experience in the "additional info" field below.
In order to have everyone attend all the sessions, sign-ups will close next Tuesday. If there is sufficient interest I will repeat the course for people on the waiting-list.
