The Snowy river race is a chance to try some of the best whitewater that Australia has on offer. And it does not run that often. The race is a great social event and a good weekend (October Long) of whitewater fun. Now in its second year and organized by local Canberra paddlers and it would be great to continue to have a an ANU presence.
the event is friendly and welcoming so even if you are not keen to compete it is a great chance to share a campfire with local and national paddlers. Its also a great chance to run laps of the snowy over the weekend as there are plenty of cars to shuttle with. This year they also have a packraft/inflatable kayak category.
The race on the stretch of whitewater between Munyang power station and Island Bend campground. If you can paddle Red Rocks you will be comfortable with the intermediate section.
Skill Level?
As I said, the intermediate section was about the same level as Red Rocks. If you are new to paddling but are interested let me know your skill level when signing up. The inflatable kayak/packraft makes the section more accessible as well.
