We will sport climb at somewhere within 2 hours of Canberra, probably Tianjara, with location to be finalised on Friday.
This trip is mainly open to those who are experienced and self-sufficient i.e. are confident lead climbing outdoors. However, given enough experienced climbers we may be able to take a few beginner climbers, at a minimum you should have climbed indoors a few dozen times and being comfortable climbing the right most blue route on the new wall will mean you should be able to climb most of the routes. If I haven't climbed with you please let me know your level of experience including grades you're happy to lead. Spots on the trip will depend on having enough drivers and experienced climbers; as such signing up does not automatically guarantee a place.
Most likely we will be climbing grades from mid teens to 18-19 unless some stronger climbers join.
Leave 8am, climb until 5ish, back in Canberra 7ish.
You will need at a minimum:
- Personal climbing gear including harness, locking carabiner, climbing shoes, head-torch, helmet (compulsory), chalk, belay device. appropriate clothing for weather, sun protection, insect repellent, and approach shoes. I will go to the gear store on Saturday afternoon to get ropes so if you need hire gear we should be able to accommodate that.
