Miss walking in the high country? Want a weekend getaway to the Australian alps and take photographs of the beautiful glacial lakes? Never been to the Kosciuszko National Park before? This walk is for you!
The walk follows the Main Range Track - a 22km circuit that offers spectacular views of the mountains, snow gums and the crystal-clear lakes. We will walk the track over two days, which makes it suitable for anyone who hasn't camped in the alpine area before.
The Plan: We'll depart ANU Sport at 6:30am, get a coffee in Jindabyne, leave our cars at Charlotte Pass and start walking around 10am. We'll walk the Track clockwise:
Day 1 (~12 km): Charlotte Pass - Seamans Hut - Rawson Pass - Mt. Kosciuszko - Wilkinsons Creek (off the track)
Day 2 (~10 km ): Wilkinsons Creek - Carruthers Peak - Blue Lake - Snowy River Crossing - Charlotte Pass
Optional: Mt. Townsend on the 2nd day morning
We will grab a dinner in Cooma on the way back to Canberra.
