[Canceled due to lack of interest]
I want to head to Bungonia Gorge (1.5h drive from Canberra) to do some climbing. I plan to leave on Friday night and return on Sunday night.
Bungonia is a really great place - there's also bushwalking, canyoning, and caving. If you want to lead a trip for one of these activities, get in touch with me and we can organise a mini extravaganza.
For the climbers, the main attraction of Bungonia is that the rock is limestone, which is pretty rare in Australia. There are some amazing multipitch lines, which are all pretty hard (grade 22 and up, and mostly mixed). There are also some single pitch crags which might be good if you really want to get on limestone. Some of the crags have quite a few easy climbs, so there might even be potential for a beginners contingent.
I'm planning to do the multis so I won't provide any supervision at all. Climbers who aren't self-sufficient should treat their registration as provisional. When signing up please detail your climbing goals (single or multi, and what grades) in the comment section. Please also have a look at the guide on The Crag to decide if you want to climb here. If you're thinking of doing the multis, please make a realistic assessment of your skills - can you lead or second at these grades? Can you do the above even if the climbing is runout or traverses? Are you capable of sorting out a mutlipitch abseil (this is how you have to descend many of the climbs)?
If I haven't climbed with you before, please detail your climbing experience in the comments section.
Climb. Details of exact routes will be left on the car each day.
