I'll be spending some time in New Zealand during February next year and am looking to see if anyone would be interested in some introductory mountaineering in the Southern Alps.
The trip is very beginner-friendly, and open to anyone of any mountaineering ability. I have a few years experience and am more than happy to teach anyone with nominal knowledge. Do note we won't be taking any local Mountaineering Course.
There isn't much of a plan at the moment, but I suppose we'd spend time (in Australia, NZ, or both) becoming very familiar with basic skills (roping up for glacier travel, crevasse rescue, etc) before flying up to a hut in the Alps for a yet undetermined length of time, likely in the Mt Cook NP. There we'd use those skills in their intended setting and get comfortable using mountaineering gear, and climb some easier routes.
