Each participant will need:
Safety Plan
The activity will be conducted in accordance with the ANU Mountaineering Club Safety Policies and Procedures. Additionally:
a. Weather and tide forecasts will be checked regularly while in mobile reception paying particular attention to thunderstorms, heavy rain and/or strong winds.
b. A warning time will be logged with a responsible person and updated daily when within mobile reception.
c. Participants must be able to exit an inverted kayak and conduct an assisted on-water entry.
d. To improve visibility and to render assistance with minimum delay, the group will travel in a tight formation whenever possible.
f. If conditions deteriorate, the group will exit the river at the closest landing point.

This sea kayaking trip provides an entry level adventure which is awe-inspiring, physically challenging and intellectually stimulating. With very few sea kayaking trips currently being conducted by the club, this activity will assist in creating a small cadre of members with the confidence and experience to organise multi-day expeditions on inland waterways.
Schedule of events
- 12 Jan 21 Tue 1800 - Pre-Trip meeting at gearstore
- 14 Jan 21 Fri 1700 - Pre-load boat trailer at boatshed
- 16 Jan 21 Sat 0700 - Drive to Tallowa Dam/Lake Yarrunga and paddle to Wirritin campground (or further)
- 17 Jan 21 Sun 0800 - Paddle to Tallowa Dam and retrieve vehicles.
- 17 Jan 21 Sun 1400 - Return to Canberra. Remainder camp at Bendeela Campground
- 18 Jan 21 Mon 0800 - Canyon at Macquarie Pass and return to Canberra.
Each participant will need:
- Paddling gear
- Kayak (single or double)
- PFD
- Deck
- Paddle
- Paddling clothes
- Clothing suitable for warm and inclement weather
- Booties, canvas shoes or thongs
- Hat, gloves, sunglasses
- 2 x light sources
- Water (minimum 2L per day)
- Food and snacks (4 day trip)
- 3 x breakfast
- 4 x lunch
- 3 x dinner
- Camping gear including:
- Camping clothes (including wet weather and emergency thermals)
- Towel
- Sleeping bag and mat
- Tent (may be shared by family/household group)
