A one day climbing trip out to the ACT crack haven of Billy Billy, situated in the beautiful Namadgi National Park. While not a learn to climb outdoors, or learn to lead trad trip, this is suitable for those who have been outdoors a few times, are comfortable lead belaying/seconding trad, and who are looking to refine their crack skills! Self sufficient trad climbers are more than welcome!
When you sign up please state your previous climbing experience.
Whilst there are a few easier things, the good climbing goes from approx. grade 17 into the mid 20's, and the classics are mostly cracks of varying widths. Link to the crag is below.
Approach: Apparently quite long since the fires hit, 1.5 - 2hrs each way (bush bashing - you've been warned).
Gear: When we know numbers, we will hire gear (rack and ropes) on Thursday the 18th at 6pm from the Gear Store.
Individually you will need: Helmet, Harness, Climbing shoes, Locking Carabiner, Belay device (ATC preferred or else whatever user is most familiar with), water (2L minimum), food, sun protection, appropriate hiking attire, stoke.
Recommended but not essential: Chalk bag, tape/crack gloves, a burning desire to find the most perfect hand jam this side of Indian Creek*.
*This item is actually VERY essential
