Hello! Join me this weekend for a walk up Mount Gingera, a peak sitting at roughly 1850 m above sea level. The total length of this walk is approx. 21 kms with over 1000 m of elevation gain. So this is not very easy, it'll be quite a workout!
We'll start at Corin Dam and walk up the steep stockyard spur (600 m of elevation gain in 2kms), and then continue along a more flat trail towards Gingera. Once we are very close to Gingera, we'll turn off the main fire trail and take a narrow trail to the summit. Views from up there should be absolutely beautiful!
Take a look at this link for more info on the walk.
All of the walk is on track so no bushbashing or difficult off track navigation involved. But it there is quite a lot of elevation gain and this is a relatively long walk so suitable for walkers with a decent amount of fitness :) . This is not a walk for you if you haven't ever bushwalked before (sorry!).
Please bring:
- water (2.5L minimum, preferably more)
- snacks and lunch
- hat (and sunscreen if you need it)
- warm layers
- personal first aid kit
- raincoat! (even if there is no rain forecast!!)
-head torch! (even though we intend to finish before dark!!)
When you sign up, please include a description of your fitness levels and bushwalking experience!! Also please tell me if you have a car and can drive!!!
Leave ANU Sport at 7am. Drive to Corin Dam carpark (~1 hr). Start walking by 8:30 am. Walk to Mt Gingera via stockyard spur and Pryor's hut and walk back to Corin Dam the same way we ascended. Drive back to Canberra and return to anu sport around 5pm (maybe earlier if we can walk fast!
