This Trip is open to members participating in the Canyon Leader Skills sessions only. Please do not sign up unless you are part of this group.
The aim this trip is to practice roping skills in the pseudo-canyon environment of Punchbowl Cave, Wee Jasper.
We will depart the SRA at 7am and drive to Wee Jasper which is about 90min west. Once there we will abseil in to the caves and spend around 5 hrs underground exploring the caverns and practicing roping skills.
Minimum equipment: Harness, helmet, headlamp, spare light source, figure 8 or ATC, 3 lockable carabiners,1 clip carabiner, clothes you don't mind getting dirty (ie overalls), non-slip shoes, food, water, pee bottle, daypack, 2 x garbage bags and change of clothes.
I will organise the group gear.Personal gear:
- Helmet*
- Harness*
- 2 x lockable carabiners*
- Belay device*
- Headlamp
- Secondary light source (headlamp or torch)
- Sturdy clothing (preferably overalls)
- Sturdy closed shoes
- Water
- Food
- Pee bottle (sturdy wide mouth bottle, don't pre-fill it...)
- Day pack (this will get muddy)
- Change of clothes (you're not getting in my car with grubby clothes)
- Garbage bag (to put all your dirty stuff in at the end of the day)

Depart from SRA and drive to Wee Jasper via Uriarra Crossing.
Check in with rangers and do Punchbowl Cave
Exit cave at around 1500 and return to Canberra
