UPDATES 25 JULY
- Looks like there will be enough snow to go to Teddy's Hut, as originally planned!
- The trip is full, however you can still sign up to join the waiting list if you wish.
-------------
Join me for a gentle overnight cross-country ski trip! The goal is to find some flattish areas to ski around and see some sights. We'll hire NNN-BC gear (or telemarks if you wish).
Destination will depend on weather and snow conditions. My first preference is to go to Teddy's Hut from the Cascades carpark, a lovely 10km ski along the Thredbo River. But it looks like there's just too little snow right now. Another option, in good weather, would be to take the Kosi Express (costs $49!) from Thredbo and ski around the tops camping near Cootapatamba Hut. A third option could be an overnight up to Tin Hut from Guthega Power Station (but this one a little harder trip).
This trip is framed as beginner, but you must have
- overnight tent-based bushwalking experience, preferably in cold conditions
- skiing experience, preferably cross-country but intermediate downhill is OK.
Please include this information when you sign up otherwise your registration will not be considered. Also please include whether you have a car and parks pass and whether you have any preference among the above trip options!
Registration on this trip does not guarantee a place. I will select trip participants on Monday 25 July based on the information you've submitted. I'll also confirm our planned route at that time.
Please wear a face mask while car-sharing on the drive out.
