Hannels Spur has the largest altitude change of any hike in Australia. We'll do it in a day!
The plan is to drive down Friday night, leave a car at Thredbo then camp at Geehi Flats. Saturday morning we leave tents set up, then hike up the spur and over to Thredbo, then drive the car back to tents at Geehi Flats. Sunday we drive home.
We will hire snowshoes from the gear store for the likely snow cover at the highest elevations.
This hike has about 1800m vertical and 23km horizontal in one day. Only for fit, experienced bushwalkers. Please send me your hiking experience if you haven't hiked with me before.
We'll need cars to execute the car shuffle! Signing up does not guarantee participation, since I will have to prioritise those who can bring a car. I'll give updates as we near the trip date with hopefully participation confirmed a week in advance.
