Greetings hikers!
Let's go for a wander in the Budawangs. The approaches are as soggy as a sao stuck to a swaggering sea cucumber so we're going to need to get creative.
The Plan:
Saturday 28th:
- Early start from ANU (~5:30am departure)
- Drive around to the eastern approaches (-35.261944, 150.372976). There's a 4WD track up the escarpment from here but it'll most likely be too rough for us to drive up so expect to walk from there.
- Hike to the Mt. Bushwalker lookout (-35.239378, 150.293597) - approx. 10km.
- Hike towards Talatarang Mountain as we look for a suitably epic campsite. Additional 5-10km
Sunday 30th:
- Do Saturday in reverse.
We're going to be moving quickly and there could be a good deal of rough off-track/vertical rock scrambling. Hikers need to have a high level of cardio fitness. There will be no pre-trip as participation is limited to experienced overnight hikers.
