Necessary Gear: Helmet, harness, climbing shoes, shoes that you can hike in, layers in case it gets cold, rain jacket, minimum of 1.5L of water, lunch/snacks, sunscreen/other sun protection, head torch, and a book or other entertainment. I will borrow ropes, quickdraws, ATCs, carabiners, PLB, and anchors for everyone to use.
Pre-trip Meeting: 7:45 on Monday at Gear Store
Risk assessment and mitigation: Outside of driving to the crag and walking to the wall, the greatest danger is probably due to human error. Human error can occur while belaying, clipping, cleaning, setting up anchors, etc. However, this risk can be mitigated by vigilance and proper technique that is mastered so that it is second nature. As such, try to learn and practice as much as you can about lead climbing before the trip. Also note that the more experienced climbers who will be teaching you are NOT certified guides, so the emphasis is on you to stay vigilant and be aware of what can injure/kill you to your greatest capacity.
