The Kayaking Skills Training is back again at the Queanbeyan Pool!
If you are a beginner or intermediate paddler, these sessions are for you. This program is designed to improve your skills before you head out on your first (or next) whitewater or sea kayaking adventure. This is not a formal course and there is no certification. We will practice basic paddling skills. You will improve command of your paddle and your kayak. In so doing, you will become more confident and capable on moving water and be able to better effect self and assisted rescues. When you are ready, you may even conquer the holy grail of kayaking - the kayak roll. More advanced paddlers with a roll should take this opportunity to practice other kayak rolling techniques.
Bring the following if you can.
Essential: thermals/rashee or wetsuit, swimmers, wind protection such as a cag or other close fitting light weight spray jacket, warm clothes change, towel, soap etc, cash for your fees.
Additional: diving mask or swim goggles and nose clamp.
There is also a canteen for the hungry or thirsty.
We will run these sessions on Monday evenings for 3 weeks.
Meet at the boatshed at 1630 so we can load kayaks and depart for our road trip to Qbn Pool. We want to arrive by 1715 and be on the water by 1730. If you want to attend but arrive later at the pool, then contact me so I can pack gear for you.
