Archived trip from old website run by Richard Salmons
We will go to the classic canyons at Mt Wilson in the Blue Mountains. Likely candidates will be Geronimo or Water Dragon on one day, and Bowens Creek Lower North Branch on the other. These canyons are not enormously long or strenuous, so we will be able to take our time, check and review our rope safety, and possibly take a few photos. If it is warm, there is nice swimming in the Wollangambe River.
While the canyons are not rated as difficult, all the normal safety procedures apply. This includes very limited trip numbers (please ask any of the canyoning leaders why this is so important in canyoning). The trip will consist of six people, or if there are sufficient leaders, two teams of four. Small groups will work well, especially as there is no need to carry huge lengths of rope.
The pre-trip meeting will be Thursday 26 February at 6pm at the Gear Store, and we will depart on Friday evening for the drive to Mt Wilson. Sunday's canyon will be relatively short, allowing a reasonably early return to Canberra.
See trip description. Exact canyons will be left as notes on car windscreens.
