Archived trip from old website run by Alana
Trip no longer proceeding due to lack of participants. Rob and Alana attending Cascade Snowshoe instead.
------------------------------------------------
This trip will be an easy day trip (for those who have done a couple of trips, or getting back into it for the season) to Cabramurra Nordic Trails.
We'll leave Canberra 6.30am and drive to Cabramurra (Australia's highest altitude down, inhabited by Snowy Hydro workers). There is a set of little-known Nordic trails starting at a Nordic shelter. We'll head out for a lap on the trails, then back to the shelter for lunch, then another lap before heading back to Canberra.
There are 2.5, 5, 10 & 15 km loops from the Nordic shelter, so we'll tailor the length of the loops to the skills of the group, but please only sign up if you've done the club ski lessons, or are familiar with ski gear and done at least a couple of day trips. It's an easy day, but not absolute beginner/lesson level. See map of trails on last page of this doc: http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/resources/parks/southern/Kosciuszko_National_Park/2KosiGuide2012Winter.pdf
If the weather forecast is bad, we may need to change plans (e.g. Perisher trails) or cancel the trip altogether.
Please confirm whether you have a vehicle you can bring along (especially if 4WD/AWD, as Cabramurra as right at the end of the snow plough route and we'll need snow chains for 2WD's). I will provide a gear list closer to the trip.
As described in trip description.
