Weekend climbing in the Blue Mtns, aiming to explore Bung Crag (https://www.thecrag.com/climbing/australia/gardens-of-stone-area/bung-crag).
We'll drive up on Saturday morning (yeah, early start) and back on Sunday night (yeah, late finish).
This is a new crag so if it's no good on Saturday, we'll go somewhere else in the Blue Mountains depending on people's preferences on Sunday.
To come on this trip you need to be a competent sports climber (preferably able to set and clean routes but must know how to abseil safely). You will need to bring a helmet, harness, climbing shoes, belay device + belay biner. If you're already going to the gear store to hire gear, I'd suggest 2 more locking biners and 2 slings to help with cleaning routes.
This is a new crag with potential for lose rock, so helmets will be required anywhere near the crag, even when not climbing.
The crag suggests there is bush camping in the state forest near the crag so that's the plan (but I'm open to other ideas, e.g. Katoomba YHA etc... which we can discuss at the pre-trip). This means you'll need to bring food, water and equipment to bush camp (no water or facilities, have to dig holes for bathroom) on Saturday night.
I'd prefer to drive via Sydney on Sunday night (similar time, slightly longer) to avoid wildlife. Probably stop for dinner somewhere on the way.
If I haven't climbed with you, please send me a short email with your experience.
Any sign ups are expressions of interest, and I'll confirm who's able to come the week before the trip (depends on cars and mix of experienced/less experienced climbers).
Climb at Bung crag both days.
No beginners on the trip, helmets at all times because new cliff.
