Archived trip from old website run by Melanie Stamell
Are you looking to get practice paddling in white water? Done some whitewater but want to improve? If so, come along to a last minute weekend trip to Penrith whitewater stadium. Note - this is not an instructional, it's just an opportunity to get a weekend of practice on white water
You need to be a pretty competent flat water paddler in order to attend this trip and if you want to do the whole man made river you'll need to be close to a grade 3 paddler... Personally, I'll be working from the bottom of the river up (I'm not good enough to do the whole thing, yet).
The plan:
I'll be driving to Sydney via Penrith and getting in a few hours of playing in the Penrith White Water Stadium's white water before heading to Sydney's eastern suburbs for the evening. I'll heading back to Canberra via Penrith the next day for a few more hours of paddling. If anyone is interested in joining me, you're welcome to stay with me in Sydney (free, you'll get a bed). Maybe hit up a beach and try for some kayak surfing or swimming (if the beaches are too crowded) in between the Penrith paddling.
We'll split petrol. We'll collect the boat from the boat shed Friday evening but head down to Penrith on Saturday morning (early depending on when the stadium is open for recreational paddling). We'll head back to Canberra once paddling on Sunday has finished.
