Does NASA really have a secret base in Namagi that's part of a secret plot to blow up the moon by firing lasers at it? No, and that's pretty disappointing. But they do have a disused spot in Namagi for firing lasers at the moon to find out how far away it is. And we're going to find it.
This half-day bushwalk will start from the Orroral Tracking Station parking lot and climb the Granite Tors Walk to the disused geodetic dome near the top. Expect great views as we climb, and lots of kangaroos at the base. After a relaxing lunch at the peak we'll head back down to the cars and be back in Canberra in the early afternoon.
This trip is easy enough for anyone that doesn't mind some uphill walking, but it's being lead by a new leader so isn't suitable if this is your first bushwalk. If you're unsure, put your bushwalking experience in the comments.
Make sure to bring water, sunscreen and lunch.
