Are you new to Canberra and want to know where the best walking trails are? Or maybe you've decided that you're going to give bushwalking a go in 2017. Or maybe you're looking for the steepest single-track in Canberra. Whatever the reason, come along to our bushwalking Come and Try Session at ANU.
We'll meet at the BBQs on the north end of Fellows Oval near the BBQs (where the BBQ lunch will be) at 10 am and go for a moderate walk over to and up Black Mountain. Total Ascent of approximately 250m on some moderately steep and well maintained walking tracks. Suitable for beginners who don't mind a bit of uphill walking. If people are feeling enthusiastic, and time is on our side, we may also find some steeper, more scenic routes. Along the way we can talk all things bushwalking - great walks near Canberra, other areas to visit, gear, trip planning etc. We'll then head back to ANU for the midday BBQ!
What to bring:
- Yourself, comfortable clothes to walk in for about 2 hours, comfy shoes (sneakers are fine for this walk), watch the weather and dress accordingly (rain jacket if rain is forecast, unless torrential we will go on regardless) a 1L water bottle full of water and some enthusiasm! If sunny remember a sunhat and some sunscreen.
