What's more appropriate for a beach weekend than climbing a big hill that's not on the beach?
Pidgeon House is a well-known mountain in the Budawangs, and a great half-day hike to do on our trip back from the coast. We'll leave in the morning from our campsite at Honeymoon Bay. It's about a 2 hour drive from the campsite to the mountain, then a 3-4 hour return trip through eucalypt forest. We'll have lunch at the top and enjoy the great views out over the Budawangs.A much easier walk back down to the cars, and we'll return to Canberra, expecting to be back in Canberra around 5-6pm.
This trip is suitable for beginners and does not require special skills or equipment, however it is a long uphill, so some level of fitness is required. The track is maintained the whole way, so no bush-bashing or navigation skills are needed.
