This is the third attempt in a series of paddling skills sessions for our club paddlers. The outdoor pool at The Queanbeyan Aquatic Centre is full - and warm - for now. These sessions will be for all paddlers. If you are a beginner, these sessions are for you. If you have more advanced skills, you will be co-opted into sharing your skills with others. This is a chance for all to get into your favourite kayak and improve your skills before you head out on your next whitewater or sea kayaking adventure. This is not a formal course and there is no certification. We will practice basic paddling skills. You will improve your command of your paddle and your kayak. In so doing, you will become more confident and capable on moving water and be able to better effect self and assisted rescues. When you are ready, you may even conquer the holy grail of kayaking - the kayak roll. More advanced paddlers with a roll should take this opportunity to practice other kayak rolling techniques. Bring the following if you can: wetsuit or thermals, diving mask or swim goggles and nose clamp, swimmers, wind protection such as a cag or other close fitting light weight spray jacket, warm clothes change, towel, shower soap etc, head lamp, cash for your fee. There is also a canteen for the hungry or thirsty.
I will run these sessions once each week for about 8 weeks or until interest lapses.
Meet at the shed at 1710 so we can load kayaks and depart for our road trip to Qbn Pool.
We want to arrive by 1745 and be on the water by 1800.
