Ever wanted to take those impressive landscape pictures of the milky way that you see on album covers? Are people always standing around as you faff with things? Do you like standing around in the dark or carrying heavy things? Then this is the trip for you!
This trip will be a night photography workshop, where you can get to play around with long exposures, and photographing the amazing night skies of Namagi national park from beautiful Gibraltar Peak. This trip is also great for anyone that wants to see the night skies around Canberra, unobstructed by the light pollution from the city.
Starting from ANU campus at 6:00, we'll leave the cars on Corin Road around 6:30, just south of Tidbinbilla. A short 2km walk at sunset to the top brings us to Gibraltar Peak, with beautiful rocks and spectacular sights over Canberra and hopefully an impressive night sky. We'll faff around having dinner and taking night photos for an hour or two until everyone is cold and bored, then return to the cars along the same fire trail we came up on. Return time to Canberra will be late, anywhere from 10-12 depending on how long we spend at the top.
This trip is on firetrail and is relatively easy, but all the walking will be in the dark. There are some steep sections. Contact me if you're not sure
