The Plan
The plan is to head out to the iconic Snowy river south of Jindabyne, set up a base camp at either Pinch campground or Noname campground and do small day kayaking trips over the course of the next five days. We'll also be brining in the new year with conversation, alcohol (optional) and a campfire!
We'll leave on the morning of the 28th and return on either the 1st or 2nd (still up in the air). The campsite is roughly 4 hours from Canberra.
The Campsite
Campsites have fire pits and a good source fresh water (needs boiling) next to it. Cars will be parked close to the campsite. Depending on the campsite we settle on, there will be drop toilets or some you can at least drive to.
The River
Most of the river sections are Class 2, 2+ But there is also a small canyon section of class 3 water for those with more experience.
The number of paddlers we can take depends on experienced paddlers signing up and on whether we can tow the trailer. Please state your level of paddling and whether you are willing to tow the trailer or drive when signing up.
In order to attend this trip you must:
- be competent paddling on flat water, wet exiting and have at least previously attempted to roll a kayak.
- be competent with regards to camping (we'll assume that you have the equipment and know what to bring). note - you'll need to pack food for the duration of your stay.
- be able to entertain yourself. You may have to sit out some of the paddling, so bring a book!

Stay at Noname or Pinch River campsite on the Snowy River and do small day trips of white water kayaking. Mark Euston and Jason Maqueen are the most experienced paddlers attending. They will be leading the trips. Other participants have varying degrees of experience. The trips that will be run will depend on the number of people going and their skill levels.
Many of the attendees have paddled this river before. Paddlers and kayakers will be anywhere from Jacobs creek to the VIC border
