Hi all,
Intending to do a fairly easy 3 day wander taking advantage of the Reconciliation Day long weekend to check out some old mine remnants and reportedly wonderful views from on Tabletop Mountain in the Kosciuszko National Park. The walk will be mostly on track, relatively short distances and as such is suitable for keen beginner bushwalkers. Preference will be given to those that have been overnight walking at least once before (as this is a three day two night trip). Note that as it is approaching the ski season there is a possiblity of some snow on the walk. If conditions look too challenging the walk location will be shifted to a similar difficulty walk at lower elevations to avoid heavy snow.
The plan is to leave Canberra early on Saturday, drive to walk carpark area on the Snowy Mountains Highway and walk in to Broken Dam Hut via the Four Mile Trail. Camping at Broken Dam Hut both nights, on the second day we will ascend Tabletop Mountain for excellent views (if the weather plays nice). If time permits we will explore around the Nine Mile Creek mine ruins on the way back to Broken Dam Hut. On the Monday we will head out back to the cars via the Four Mile Trail again.
Note temperatures are likely to drop below zero overnight so warm clothing and sleeping gear is essential.
When signing up please email me to advise your level of bushwalking experience, so I can provide suitable details for the trip.
