The K2K is an epic 47km walk in the Blue Mountains from Kanangra to Katoomba. Much of the walk is through designated remote area, taking in Kanangra Walls, Wild Dog Mountains, Cox’s River and Narrow Neck Plateau. For some this will be a once in a life-time opportunity. This trip is for experienced overnight bushwalkers with the fitness to complete the walk in 2.5 days. We will RV in Katoomba with a group from Newcastle (ex-NUMC members) early Saturday morning where a bus has been organised to take us to Kanangra. Although we will be heading back the way we came, the bus eliminates the need for a very tedious car shuffle.
Places are limited to 8. Any more than 4 and we’ll need another driver.
To make the timings, we will have to leave Canberra on Friday evening and camp en-route.
Participants will need to organise their own gear, and have as a minimum:
- Suitable clothing, footwear and hat
- Food (enough for 3 days)
- Water (minimum 4L). Water should be available from Cox’s river at the 1/3 point
- Sleeping gear and shelter
- Food preparation utensils
- Toiletries
- Light source
- Personal first aid kit
I will organise group navigation and safety equipment.
Registering for a trip is a commitment to attend the trip! If you're not yet sure whether you can come, please don't sign up. When signing up please indicate you overnight hiking experience.
