It will be a five day trip (6-10th July) up to the Warrumbungles in northern NSW. 2 days of driving (it's 7hrs from Canberra) will bookend 3 days of climbing. It's meant to be an incredible spot, remote and adventurous long routes are the norm, with rock quality varying considerably. To quote the crag: "Perhaps the greatest concentration of high quality, long routes to be found anywhere in Australia. Adventurous routes in a remote, beautiful setting.". Sounds pretty good hey!
Due to the adventurous nature of the place, considerable trad climbing experience is a MUST, and you will need to detail your previous climbing experience in the sign up. You will also need to be a part of a pair if possible, as it's not really a suitable place for parties of 3 (the routes are too long). Because of that, treat your sign up to the trip as more of an expression of interest (however if you're keen and experienced we'll look at ways to get you along!!).
We'll most likely be camping at Balor Hut, as it has a water tank and decent access to the crags. You'll need to bring lots of water, food for five days, and be prepared for long days (potentially climbing/descending in the dark if things go awry). In terms of gear, let me know when you sign up if you have a rack. We will sort gear out at the pretrip meeting. Ropes will be hired from the Gear Store.
Get keen for a few days of sweet old school classics in a stunning location!
Drive up on the 6th, leaving cars at Pincham Campground. Climb on the 7th, 8th, 9th while camping at Balor Hut. Return to Pincham Campground and the car(s) on the 10th and drive back to Canberra, returning in the late afternoon.
